La fonction respiratoire est initiée dès la vie intra-utérine par la présence du liquide amniotique au sein de l’arbre trachéo-bronchique en devenir, puis lors de l’accouchement, par l’évacuation de ce dernier en lien avec l’essorage mécanique thoracique du bassin maternel, puis via le système lymphatique.
Puis, lors des étapes de l’enfance puis de l’âge adulte, la défaillance du système respiratoire revêt de nombreux aspects depuis l’asthme, les troubles O.R.L, la bronchite chronique, la fibrose pulmonaire jusqu’aux décompensations respiratoires aigues. Respirer peut devenir une action contraignante, épuisante pour l’organisme.
Diminuer les contraintes mécaniques ostéo-articulaires et myo-fasciales de l’individu, agir sur le système nerveux périphérique et neuro-végétatif, s’inscrire dans une vision rigoureuse anatomiste mais aussi globaliste du sujet incluant le système immunitaire ainsi que l’approche psychosomatique de ce dernier, rechercher la ou les causes perturbant l’homéostasie sont des démarches correspondant aux fondements de notre discipline, l’ostéopathie.
Ces deux articles centrés sur des approches ostéopathiques lors de dysfonctionnements respiratoires enrichiront et confirmeront l’efficacité de nos pratiques manuelles.

Durante la vita intrauterina la funzione respiratoria è awiata dalla presenza del liquido amniotico in seno all’albero tracheo-bronchiale e prosegue poi, durante il parto, grazie all’espulsione di quest’ultimo, dapprima mediante la spremitura meccanica toracica da parte del bacino materno, ed in seguito attraverso il sistema linfatico.
Poi, durante le tappe dell’infanzia e dell’età adulta, il deficit del sistema
respiratorio riveste numerosi aspetti, dall’asma ai problemi O.R.L., alla bronchite cronica, alla fibrosi polmonare, fino agli scompensi respiratori acuti. Respirare puo’ diventare un’azione impegnativa, spossante per l’organismo.
Diminuire le costrizioni meccaniche osteo-articolari e mio-fasciali dell’individuo, agire sul sistema nervoso periferico e neurovegetativo, l’inserimento in una visione rigorosa anatomiste, ma anche globale del soggetto, che includa il sistema immunitario cosi corne l’approccio psicosomatico a quest’ultimo, la ricerca delle cause che perturbano l’omeostasi, rappresentano gli approcci corrispondenti ai fondamenti della nostra disciplina, l’osteopatia.
Questi due articoli, centrati sugli approcci osteopatici in caso di disfunzioni respiratorie, arricchirano e confermeranno l’efficacia delle nostre pratiche manuali.

The respiratory function is initiated in the intrauterine life thanks to the presence of the amniotic fluid inside the developing tracheo-bronchial apparatus. Then, during delivery, by the evacuation of the amniotic fluid in close connection with the thoracic mechanical cleaning of the mother’s pelvis and ultimately through the lymphatic system.
Afterwards during childhood and later as an adult, deficiencies of the respiratory system involve various aspects from asthma to E.N.T. troubles, chronic bronchitis , pulmonary fibrosis and even severe decompensations. To breathe may become a constraining action, exhausting for the body.
The fundamentals of our discipline, osteopathy, consist in reducing patients’ myo-fascial and osteo-articular mechanical strains, acting on the peripheral and neuro-vegetative nervous system, practicing a formal approach focused on anatomy but also on a global perception of the subject involving the immune system as well as the psychosomatic study of the latter and looking for the causes hindering homeostasis.
Both papers focused on osteopathic approaches on respiratory dysfunctions will enrich and confirm the efficiency of our manual practices.
On a conceptual point of view it is non-sense to prevent an osteopath from dealing with a anatomical area constituting a key zone between the musculo-skeletal, cranial and visceral environnent. Such a restriction might even proue counterproductive by increasing the claim rate through a lack of practice of osteopaths in the cervical area.
The 8th International Osteopathic Symposium will be held in Nantes (France) on 19th and 20th November 2010. It will deal with the visceral area, another aspect of the legislative restriction of 2007 There is no doubt that the discussion will focus on the opportunity of that decision.
