1. L’application de techniques crânio-sacrées modifie la conduction auditive osseuse ;

2, Les modifications de la conduction osseuse dépendent de la technique crânienne utilisée ;

3. Les résultats enregistrés laissent supposer que les techniques crânio-sacrées restaurent également les capacités oscillatoires crâniennes, donc la mobilité de ses structures ;

Restoring neurological processes through osteopathic techniques. AlexanderN. Shepovalnikov, Michael N. Ciceroshin, Arek A. Pogossyan, Natacha A. Khodorkovskaya, Marina Stepanovna, Lydia A. Andreeva, E. Galperina, Francis Peyralade

Summary

Brains of healthy children and adults maintain stable, ordered and similar structures of spatio-temporal biopotential relations in the state of relative relaxation [Shepovalnikov, Ciceroshin, 1987, 1999]. We recognize that this phenomenon, being permanently replicated, reflects the activity of neurophysiological mechanisms that provide a combination of distant brain area activity in integrated activity. Robust deformation of ordered neurocortical interactions spatial structure is found in different neuropsychical disorders. We discovered that frontal cortex and system frontaloccipital interactions role is especially important in the process of formation of integrative brain function in ontogenesis. These interactions are provided by thalamocortical links formed rather early and long associative fiber routes that are formed at the later stages. The above interactions are the first to be distorted in case of brain damage during the birth process. Significant increase in the orderliness of frontal-occipital EEG interrelations was found while comparing structures of EEG radius-vectors distribution that reflected peculiarities of cortex zones system interactions in newborns with perinatal pathologies before and after series of osteopathic treatment. The data obtained indicate significant normalization of cerebral structures system interactions due to osteopathic correction methods aimed at restoring of homeostatic processes in the CNS. Thus the usage of osteopathic correction methods allowed us to perform modeling of restoration of distorted homeostatic processes in the CNS. The data obtained reveal the important role of the long association routes for the stabilization and organization of cerebral structures system interaction even in the immature brain of the newborns

Principles of objective representations of results of cranial osteopathic treatment. Yuri E. Moskalenko

Summary

Finding an objective way to evaluate cranial osteopathic treatment presents some difficulties due to the subjectivity of the information given by either the practician about his palpatory experience and the patient about his sensations. Recent knowledge about the organization of the hemo-liquoro dynamics inside the cranium lets us foresee the possibility of prospecting methods that can account of the particularities of the subject. Fundamental studies about the relationships between pressure and volume of liquid media inside the cranium have shown evidence of the close interaction between the vascular system and the cerebro-spinal fluid dynamic. Taking into account that cranial osteopathic techniques are oriented to the correction of both blood volume and cerebro-spinal fluid activity, it is necessary to monitor at least two parameters in order to be able to observe the effects of the treatment. The first parameter is the evolution of the volume of liquid media (blood, cerebro-spinal fluid, and others) in a particular region of the head. This can be done by the non-invasive process of recording the bio-impedance in that region. The second parameter is velocity of the blood in the arteries that supply that very region, and that is reached through transcranial dopplerography. We have found that by simultaneous recording these two variables and their combined computer assisted analysis, brings us a new kind of information about the interactions between vascular and fluid systems inside the head. It clearly appears that cranial osteopathic treatment influences the interchange between the two systems by lengthening its occurrence period and intensity. The method hereby exposed has proven to be a reliable and useful tool in observing modifications in the head dynamics as a consequence of cranial osteopathic treatment.

Modification of acoustic vibration conduction by cranial structures through osteopathic techniques. Inna A. Vartanian, Irina V. Ksenofontova. A. M. Markovich

Summary

Search for methods of objective study and estimation of efficiency of results of osteopathic influence, in particular, cranio-sacral methods is one of actual tasks of osteopathy. This work presents a method of estimation of efficiency of cranial methods, based on the comparison of bone-tissue conductivity of skull structures before and after applied treatments. All the patients underwent 3 osteopathic treatments each. Bone-tissue conductivity of high-frequency oscillations were measured in a sound-proof chamber by means of auditory threshold measurements with the help of a specially developed bone vibrator with smooth frequency characteristics. Air conduction of sound was excluded. Thresholds of patient sensation of vibrations were measured with the interval of 1 kHz within the range of 3 20 kHz and with the interval of 200 Hz within the frequency range of 7-9 kHz. It was found out that after three treatments thresholds of bone-tissue conduction in ail the patients were decreased by 10-32 dB.

The most substantial shifts (more than 25 dB) in thresholds were obtained in patients with disorders of kinetics of skull bones, especially temporal and occipital bones. Subjectively, after treatment ail the patients noted an increase in their general condition, normalization of sleep, improvement of capacity for work. It has been shown that using of global methods results in reduction of perception thresholds of oscillations of bone-tissue structures of the head within a wide range from 3 to 20 kHz, and using the methods for temporal bones implies the reduction mainly within the range of 3 12 kHz. For a part of patients maximum changes in thesholds occur in the area of the basic resonance of the head (7,0 8,6 kHz).

The result,, of the research allow us to make the following conclusions :

1. Application of cranio-sacral method,, implies changes in the bone tissue conduction for different frequencies of head structure vibrations which demonstrate themselves in reduction of thresholds up to 32 dB for certain frequencies. This testifies to changes of resonance properties of skull structures, which must be connected with restoration of correct connection of bones in the area of sutures ;

2.Changes of bone-tissue conductivity depend on applied cranial methods. The largest changes in the range of the head basic resonance are noticed when working with temporal bones of the skull, global methods improving to the highest extent oscillations in a wide frequency vibration range ;

3.The data obtained allow us to suppose that application of cranio-sacral osteopathic methods restores oscillation properties of the structures of the head of man and, therefore, their mobility, which provides normal action of the primary respiratory mechanism ;

4. Improvement of patient state, which occurs as a result of osteopathic treatment may be connected to an improvement of overall brain hemoliquorodynamics, local circulation of liquids and blood in the ear labyrinth.
