Résumé
Introduction : Selon l’Observation Socio-Economique de l’Ostéopathie (OSEOsteo), seulement un à deux patients sur dix consultent un ostéopathe exclusif chaque année en France, soit 10% à 20% de la population française.
Objectif : Recueillir et analyser les perceptions et les connaissances de la profession ostéopathe chez des sujets n’ayant jamais eu recours à l’ostéopathie, au sein de la population française, de toutes catégories socio-professionnelles, à travers un questionnaire, pour ensuite proposer une meilleure communication.
Méthode : Un questionnaire crée par nos soins a été adressé par courriel à un échantillon de la population française n’ayant jamais consulté d’ostéopathes auparavant. Les résultats ont été recueillis et analysés avec le logiciel Excel (version 2013). Résultats : Nous avons pu schématiser les résultats des 120 participants de notre enquête sous forme de graphiques et ensuite les analyser.
Conclusion : Les participants de notre étude semblent avoir une certaine connaissance de l’ostéopathie ce qui est encourageant. Celle-ci est cependant insuffisante par rapport au champ de compétence de notre profession. Une plus grande recherche à travers des essais cliniques, ainsi que la prise en charge des patients par l’Assurance Maladie permettrait une réelle reconnaissance de cette profession par le monde médical. Ainsi qu’une meilleure communication lui permettrait d’agrandir sa patientèle.

Title : Knowledge and perceptions on the osteopathic profession by subjects who never consulted an osteopath before : analysis of a questionnaire.

Introduction : According to the Socio-Economic Observation of Osteopathy ( OSEOsteo), only one or two patients out of ten consult an exclusive osteopath in France every year, which represents 10% to 20% of the French population.
Objective : Collect and analyze the perceptions and knowledge on the osteopathic profession from subjects who have never consulted osteopaths before, within the French population, of varied socio-professional categories, throughout a questionnaire, and then offer a better communication.
Method : A questionnaire was created by us and sent by email to a sample of the french population, that had never consulted an osteopath before. The results were collected and analysed through microsoft Excel 2013software.
Results : 120 participants answered our questionnaire. The results were represented by graphies in our survey, giving us the possibility to analyze them.
Conclusion : The participants of our study seem to have some knowledge on osteopathy which is encouraging. This knowledge is however insufficient compare to the scope of competence this profession has. Greater research through clinical trials, as well as the tare of patients by the medical insurance would provide a recognition of the osteopathic profession from the medical world. Indeed, better communication on osteopathy would allow a greater patient base.
